History
The Daily Prophet is the premier newspaper in the wizarding world. It was owned by all of the children in the Prod family until Iago Prod sold their shares to Jocasta Macnair. After her death, the paper fell into the hands of Durin Macnair. Durin Macnair then sold the paper to Amelia Bones, Orlando Prod, and Victoria Pucey.

Owners
The Daily Prophet currently has three owners, two of whom are known to the public. Only the three owners know that Amelia Bones is a part-owner of The Daily Prophet. Orlando Prod and Victoria Pucey oversee the daily activities of the paper.

Benefactors and Advertisers
There are numerous benefactors who donate money to The Daily Prophet to help make the paper affordable for everyone in the wizarding world. The Daily Prophet also sells space for advertisements to be placed in the newspaper.

Editors
The newspaper has one editor-in-chief and one managing editor. There is one section editor for every section of the newspaper, and they answer directly to the managing editor and the editor-in-chief. Below these section editors are countless copy editors for every section.

The news section has five section editors as well as numerous copy editors, reporters, and photographers. This section is the largest in the entire newspaper. The news section is divided between Local News and International News. Two of the section editors local news editors, two of the section editors are international news editors, and one of the editors is a Front Page Editor.

Opinion-Editorial
The op-ed section of the newspaper has two section editors as well as a select number of copy editors, columnists and cartoonists. The section editors are responsible for reviewing and selecting all columns and Letters to the Editor. A reporter may rise as a regular columnist after many years of service as a journalist. Guest columns may be submitted and accepted upon review, but guest columnists are printed at the leisure of the section editors.

The announcements section features two section editors and numerous copy editors, reporters, and photographers. This section includes Obituaries and Wedding Announcements.
Society
The Society section features two section editors and numerous copy editors, reporters, and photographers. It is the fabled "society pages."

Advertising
The advertising section of the newspaper communicates directly with advertisers. They sell advertisements to be placed in the paper and buy advertisements for the paper to be placed in public places. The advertising staff creates advertisements to be placed throughout the newspaper. This section has two editors and numerous designers and staff members.

Accountants
The newspaper also has a number of accountants who help the owners to keep track of the money generated by the newspaper.
