Character History
Sturgis is the oldest of the four Podmore children. His father is a Muggle and his mother was a witch, who was disowned by most of her family when she ran off with Sturgis's father. Sturgis grew up relatively happy and healthy, otherwise, and was sorted into Gryffindor. Sturgis was not outgoing during school, but he was friends with nearly everyone in his house and year. Fifth year, Sturgis was made Prefect, although the quality of Prefect he was, still remains in question.
In the fall of 1972, Renee Podmore was hit and killed by a Muggle cab driver when she crossed the street without looking. Sturgis went through depression at the loss of his mother and for a while considered leaving school all together, but pulled through by the end of his fifth year and receiving enough OWLs to continue his studies and eventually have the marks to apply to get into the MLES with his long time friend, Fletcher Bowman.
Sturgis worked hard and during the end of his training worked in The Leaky Cauldron to spy on people who come through. He eventually became a full-fledged Auror in January of 1977. Sturgis was also one of the first members of The Order of the Phoenix.
Sturgis eventually morphed into the out-going person he is today. He especially befriended some of the Auror Trainees Alice Branstone and Frank Longbottom, as well as the Healer-in-Training Marlene McKinnon, all three of whom would later join him in The Order. Sturgis also befriended Eleanor Prewett. He eventually was moved from spying at the Leaky Cauldron to a dodgy bar in Knockturn Alley, until finally he was taken off of that as well. Sturgis's partner in the Auror Corps is Lauren Abercrombie.
After HBP (July '05–Present / December '77–Leviosa!Present)
Sturgis took Minnie Watson to the Ministry Ball in 1977 to be nice, but that wound up being a disaster. It wasn't until his youngest brother Lawerence Podmore came down ill and needed to be taken to St. Mungo's in March of 1978. Sturgis took responsibility for checking on his brother as his father had received ill treatment when Lawerence was brought in. It was there that he met his ex-girlfriend, the shy Naomi Goldstein.
Sturgis was on the scene at the attack on Diagon Alley by Death Eaters and did his best to be there for Naomi when her her father died in the attacks. Sturgis has told Naomi that he loves her, even if she does not feel exactly the same way, they are still dating and plan on moving into the house he recently bought in Chapham together.
Sturgis's Patronus is a cat.
Sturgis broke up with Naomi, deciding that there were several other things which were more important at the time than their relationship. He helped Alastor Moody cover-up the death of Magnus Flint, which in reality was PatrickMcCormack. He is one of only a few people who know that Magnus Flint is not dead.
He and Lauren were put in charge of the death of James Peakes, which began the Death Eater takeover of the Floo Network. It has been judged as unsolveable.

One: What characters should know about your character. What they infer from that is up to them.
Sturgis Podmore is rather ordinary Auror. He's nothing special to look at and is dating Gretchen Jones. He has a sister and two brothers, all of which are at Hogwarts. He is a bit of a workaholic and keeps rather insane hours. He also, keeps to himself.
He is best friends with Fletcher Bowman and they entered Auror training together.
He is a nice pleasant boy. Really.
Friends and Co-Workers (Non-Order Members obviously)
He does not get along with Francis Bones at all and never has. He pretty much hates him, with reasons, although it is still very much a schoolboy grudge. During school his best friends were Lily McFadden Davies and Fletcher. (There is always Fletcher.) He was also the Prefect in his house/year.
His father is a Muggle and his mother died during the fall of his Fifth Year. He didn't want to come back to school, feeling awkward, but was forced to. He had always wanted to be an Auror. His NEWT marks were a lovely arrangement of Es and Os. Good enough to get into the Ministry.
He is a bit quirky and is nice until he has reason to not be. He's rather easy to get along with, unless he doesn't like you. And then, like his sister, fails to see any redeeming qualities you may or may not have.

Sturgis is, obviously, a member of the Order of the Phoenix. He helped cover up the death of Patrick McCormack and thus knows that Magnus Flint is actually alive. He visits Magnus at least once a week, bringing him outside news. Sturgis also checks in on the Flints to make sure that they're not getting any DE visits for Magnus.
Sturgis is growing increasingly frustrated with the Ministry. He loves his job and he loves what he does, but the politics within the Ministry themselves annoy him.
His mother was a Bletchley. His father has not been the same since her death, he has problems with alcohol and keeping a job. Although, that might mainly be because of the Muggle economy.
Sturgis reads the journals obsessively. He does not miss an entry and he reads every cross-out (unfortunately). He reports to Dumbledore every week to let Dumbledore know what is going on in the journals.
His patronus is a cat.
