Character History

Shing Xing was first referenced in late 1975 as the governess for the Flint clan.

It soon became known that she was hired by Gabriel Flint and Trixie Flint in 1964 after the birth of Octavian to help Trixie take care of the three kids. In 1966 with the Death of Gywnedd Flint, Shing also became the governess of Fabian and Julia. By 1968 Trixie was working full-time in Italy, leaving Shing with the children for 9 months out of the year.

Public Knowledge:

Shing is known for her bold, quick-witted, down-to-earth radio persona. Her show Late Nights With Shing has been running since 1954. She often discusses the stories in the news and celebrity gossip. She often responds to owls and callers through the fireplace. She sometimes shares stories about her own life, so on more than one occasion she may have told stories about "the kids I nanny." She is a middle-aged Muggleborn with a longtime boyfriend.

Former Classmates/Roommates:

At Hogwarts she was most likely incredibly studious. Her parents encouraged her to do well in school, so she studied hard. It was only during her seventh year, when she was studying for her NEWTs, that she realized that she didn't want to pursue an academic career. However, she scored fairly well on her NEWTs and, at her parents' direction, entered the Ministry of Magic in the Wizengamot Administration Services. By 1943, she had left this job and become a coffee-fetcher.

Family:

Her parents are both deceased, so the only family she has left to speak of is her brother. He knows that their family escaped China because of their aunt, who had married a Muggleborn wizard.
