Character History

Millicent Lufkin was the oldest of the five Lufkin girls, who were raised in their parents' house in Hempstead, Kent, England. She grew up as the natural leader of the five girls and wanted very much to grow up to be just like her father, Paul Lufkin. Paul was and continues to be good friends with Bertram Longbottom, and for that reason, Maxine grew up playing with Algernon Longbottom. Millicent always tended to prefer the company of boys to the company of girls. She was very nearly a tomboy.

Millicent went to Hogwarts and was Sorted into Gryffindor. She was highly competitive and enjoyed beating professors and classmates at their own games. She was disinterested in the things that other girls took an interest in: fashion and boys. This became less so after her roommate, Eluned Griffiths, dropped out of Hogwarts after Christmas of their sixth year because she had become pregnant with Clayborne Grubbly-Plank's child. This event influenced Millicent's views on dating and parenthood, and she firmly resolved to be cautious in both matters. For this reason, and others, she had an on-again, off-again, hot/cold relationship with the popular and charismatic Beater in the year above her, Cassius Bagnold. Millicent focused on her academics, and she achieved Head Girl during her seventh year.

Millicent left Hogwarts in 1946 and went into the Wizengamot Administration Services. She married Cassius Bagnold during the summer of 1949. Within the next few years, she grew restless as a clerk for Wizengamot member Griselda Marchbanks. She became pregnant with her first child, Darius, in January 1952 and quit her job as a clerk that September just after she gave birth. Resolving to get all of her parenting done in one swift 11-year go, Millicent gave birth to her second child, Leandra Bagnold, in August 1954. She raised the two children at home while studying the law tirelessly on her own time. In 1962, Millicent took a job working as a paralegal for barrister Juliette Williamson. She passed the magical law examinations in 1964, and from there pursued her political career which culminated in her being named the Minister of Magic.
