Character History
Lotharius was born just after a very difficult time in his parents marriage. He was the third of three boys and the fifth of an eventual six. Much time wasn't given to Lotharius, especially after Vanora was found to be a Squib. However, he was devoted to Vanora and when arguing occured, he never minded distracing his sister or taking over her over with him to the Puceys. He has always been very protective of his older Squib sister.
Lotharius was never close to either of his parents and still isn't. He would never admit it, but deep down he is sure that neither of his parents cared or loved him and thus has never desired to have a relationship with either of them after he left for Hogwarts. At Hogwarts, he was friends with John Pucey and Mitch Mochrie. In order to allow Mitch to be allowed in the house, he told his parents and John Pucey's that Mitch was half. He maintained his friendship with them and several other 70ers, including Evalina Annick, Toby Thruston, Mairwen Llewellyn, and Viva Pritchard. He is friends with Archer through those people. He doesn't care what anyone thinks really, including his parents.
The summer of 1968 was a big summer of Lotharius. The previous winter, his father had been posioned and due to that he spent more time at home. Then the end of July, his brother Melibeus and his wife died in a boating accident. Lotharius saw more of his father that summer than he had in a long time. He spent most of the summer not at home and avoiding his family and everything that was going on, including his niece Arcite moving into his home.
During his seventh year, his father died. Lotharius went home for the funeral, but was never visibly upset or distraught. He said all the right things, but he had a hard time feeling sad about it since he had never really gotten to know his father or cared to after his father showed little interest in his final son.
After school, Lotharius spent years traveling, only going home for holidays or special events. He had a string of girlfriends, most noteably most of them couldn't speak English. He took after his father a little more than he would ever admit. He eventually decided to move home, getting bored with sleeping around and traveling and moved in with his brother, where he lives today.
For Player Knowledge (FPK)
No one really *knows* that Lotharius is not close to his parents. Marchbankses don't really talk about these sort of things. It can be generally assumed but Lotharius doesn't talk about how he isn't close to his parents, he believes that some people just aren't.
Lotharius knows that his brother Melibeus has an illegitimate child. He is very angry about this and feels betrayed given his current *acting out* by dating a halfblood, although he does care for Melisande.
