Character History
Idalia Dawson left Hogwarts in 1968 and decided that, after spending the better part of seven years with the same people, she ought to venture out and see the rest of the world. With the economic limitations of a halfblood from casual means, however, she found herself doing landscaping work with Ira Branum (Ravenclaw Class of 1926). In her free time, she explored the Muggle world and got knee-deep in the Muggle social scene. It was there that she met Liverpool FC striker Scott Tyndall. She dated him for six months before, in July 1972, she got pregnant with her son, Tyler. Fearing both for Scott's life and his career, she Confunded him and that group of friends.
She remained on the outskirts of both the Muggle and the wizarding world during her pregnancy and in the years following. She broke the news to her family during the sixth month of her pregnancy. She relied on her family and the kindness of Ira and Leona Branum. On 27 March 1973 she gave birth to Tyler at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injures. She balanced raising Tyler and working for the landscaping business.
Ira and Leona Barnum went missing on 3 October 1975 and reappeared as Inferi on 14 November of that year. It was at that time that Idalia took over the business. She takes clients in both the wizarding and the Muggle world in order to be able to afford to send Tyler to Muggle primary.
Idalia is the middle child of the Dawson family, and she has always tried to reconcile the stronger personalities of Keegan and Theo. Since the winter of 1972, her son Tyler has been the center of her life. Her social life consists only of her family and the few friends that have reappeared in her life in recent years. Her days of "going out" are long since over. She prefers to read books and watch a bit of the telly after Tyler has gone to bed.
Idalia and Dargle have been friends since their early years in the Ravenclaw Class of 1968. However, they lost touch after Idalia escaped into the Muggle world and Dargle started on the road to being famous as a Puffskein. When they crossed paths again, Idalia already had Tyler and they remained friends until the summer of 1981, when Idalia and Tyler met up with the Puffskeins on tour. They became engaged on 21 October 1981 in this log. Melisande Grubbly-Plank helped Idalia to realize that she was pregnant at the end of December 1981. Idalia hid the pregnancy from the general public until 16 April 1982, when there was a press release while Dargle and Idalia were on their honeymoon in Iceland. They are expecting a girl.
Idalia's son Tyler is a very active footballer and talented like his father. The team that Tyler and Idalia support is Southend United F.C. Unfortunately they are in for some difficult times.
