Description
Now that he is a seventh year, Heathcote seems to have grown into himself and his five-foot, ten-inch frame. He is still just as skinny as ever, though with shorter hair (thank you, Aren Giovanni), with a more gaunt appearance (thank you, two-year stint with drugs and alcohol), and not nearly as awkward as he was. He is doing his best to present himself properly again, however, and has vowed not to go to lessons in anyone's robes but his own.
He is just as bright as he has always been, though he is just now, now that it is NEWT season, beginning to apply himself and finding out the hard way that it might just be a little too late. He is doing his best to catch up to everyone else, though, and is spending a lot of time tucked away in the library revising by himself or with friends. In his spare time, though, he plays his guitar and sleeps.
He still drinks and smokes (and is rarely caught without a cigarette as of late) but not nearly as much, and doesn't find it as appealing to be constantly drunk now that he has to worry about his appearance with others around.
Character History
Heathcote was born on 3 March, 1964 into a well-off Pureblood family. His home is in North England, near Berwick-upon-Tweed and is of modest size, directly in the center of a Wizarding village. His brother, Ioan, is seven years his senior, a 1975 Gryffindor and his sister, Primrose is four years his junior, a first-year Hufflepuff. His parents, Joanne and Wesley, are a Mediwitch and Healer, respectively, at St. Mungo's.

1. What is your full name?
Heathcote Jalen Barbary
2. Where and when were you born?
I was born on 3 March 1964 at St Mungo's, which isn't very surprising. My mum was a mediwitch there at the time. Still is.
3. Who are/were your parents?
My mum is Joanne and she's all right. She's sort of boring and likes to play cards with some of the other women that live nearby. She can be a bit of a gossip. Like I said, she's a mediwitch at St Mungo's. I think she works with babies. Meaning, obviously, that she takes care of them rather than actually working with them. My father is called Wesley and he can be sort of overbearing, but he means well and wants to see me succeed. He's a Healer in the Janus Thickey Ward at St Mungo's.
4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
I have Ioan, my brother. Ioan was a Gryffindor. Ioan is also an idiot. I also have Primrose, my sister. Primrose is a first-year and she seems to be doing well. She can be a bit obnoxious, but she's eleven and in Hufflepuff, so that isn't too terribly surprising. She's a kind girl, though, and she has to have someone to look up to, since Ioan has absolutely no time for her at all.
5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
Right now, I live at home, which is in the very northernmost point of England, near Scotland in a wizarding village outside Berwick-Upon-Tweed. My house is moderately large, given the normal standards on houses in England, but it isn't a manor or anything fancy like that. It is nice, though, thanks to Mum.
Next week, I'll be stuck back living with Octavian and Nicholas in our dormitory at school.
It's not hard to figure out which I prefer.
6. What is your occupation?
Slytherin student and, now, prefect.
7. Write a full physical description of yourself.
This is a bit hard as I haven't measured myself since the beginning of the summer, but I've grown at least nine inches since then, making me at least five feet, nine inches. It's a bit bothersome, since the robes mum bought me just a few weeks ago for school already are too short. Anyway, I dress nicely I suppose. When I have to, at least, like for school. I rather like wearing pinstripe trousers, vests, and just normal button-up shirts when I'm not in uniform. Someone said once that it makes me look uptight, but I don't think it does. I haven't had my hair cut (it's blonde) in nearly a year and a half so it's a bit long now. I've got blue eyes, no tattoos nor scars, and no distinguishing marks, really, except that my fingernails are always short.
8. To which social class do you belong?
Upper middle. Mum was one of the Rookwoods before she married my dad, but it isn't like we get invited to social events or anything. I like it like that. I would hate myself if I had to go to any of those balls or things. They aren't much more than an opportunity to see who has the most money and influence and that is ridiculous.
9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
No, I'm perfectly well last I checked.
10. Are you right- or left-handed?
Right
11. What does your voice sound like?
Getting deeper, but with a slight Scottish accent. I don't speak very loudly nor very often, though. There isn't a point.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
I don't. Well. I might say 'well' quite a bit.
13. What do you have in your pockets?
An ice mouse, a broken guitar pick, a self-inking quill, and two galleons.
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
That depends on who you ask. I don't believe in breaking the rules for the sake of doing so and unfortunately I think that's made me a little unpopular with the other boys in my year. I like to play the guitar when I'm not revising or doing out of class-work. I don't like to eat after people have touched my food. I like to run in the mornings before classes begin. I also really like Black Sabbath.
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
Pleasant.
16. What is your earliest memory?
Ioan throwing a ball at my head. I believe it was a Quaffle. I must have been looking very much like a goal ring that day.
17. How much schooling have you had?
Four years of it, so far, at Hogwarts.
18. Did you enjoy school?
I do, for the most part.
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
I learned to play the guitar on my own. I learned to do magic from four years of honing my skills with a wand, even though I was born with the ability just like everyone else here.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models?
Not particularly, no.
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
Very well, I think. My parents love me and that's the way it should be, I suppose. Ioan, however, my brother, is a bit of a different story. I think he was always under the impression that Mum had me to be his punching bag, both verbally and with his fists and, later, his wand. Primrose and I, however, have always been closer, I think, due to our relative-closeness in age. I didn't particularly care for her much when she came home at first, I do remember that, but she's turned out to be less of a nuisance than I originally thought.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be a Healer, just like my father. Now, however, I'm not so sure. I'm still working toward it, though.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
I liked swimming and running races against the other neighborhood children. I still like swimming and running, but I rarely get the chance to do either.
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
I've always been quiet and sort of swept under the rug as far as being the centre of attention. I don't crave it and I don't need it like some people I share a dormitory with. I kept mostly to myself.
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
As a child? I'm still-- well, sort of, anyway. My friends are just as they always have been and as they are right now. I have a few acquaintances and to give you an idea, my closest friends are Nicholas Prod and Octavian Flint. And that says a lot, since I'm not sure they even considers me a peer, much less a friend.
26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
With Heather, at Octavian's party.
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
I most certainly am a virgin, thank you. Though, it almost happened. I think I'm going to consciously hold on to that as long as I possibly can, now.
28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
Well, apparently, the story goes something like this:
One day, Heathcote and Heather were kissing and while Octavian had nothing better to do, he thought up a nice story about how Heather is actually sucking the life out of Heathcote. It didn't help that Heathcote shortly after decided to colour his hair black, furthering the outlandish story that Heathcote had somehow paled and started drinking the blood of others.
And that is how I became a vampire. But I am certainly not one.
