Description
Tall (six feet, four inches), lean, with dark curly hair and olive skin typical of the rest of his siblings, but with blue eyes. Fletcher is clean, but often unkempt (he doesn't necessarily believe in shaving and combing his hair every day) and most always casual in dress and demeanor. He likes to keep his ties to his father's side of the family, who are all Muggles, and thinks they have an especially keen sense of fashion compared to that of what the Magical side has to offer. He always wears a watch around his left wrist (he's right-handed) and often looks exhausted thanks to long hours in the MLE. When he isn't wearing robes for work, he can be caught in an old, comfortable pair of Levi's and a t-shirt even when walking around Diagon Alley, a risk he's willing to take. (He's been trained, after all.)
Fletcher has a frank sense of humour, probably stemming from being surrounded by older siblings for all of his life. He's very headstrong and rarely shameless, and has no problem speaking his mind. He is a free-spirit and doesn't like to be tied down to anything, but he is (once again) making an effort for his girlfriend, Anna. He adores all of his friends and family, though, and would never consciously do anything to intentionally hurt them nor their feelings.
When he isn't working, Fletcher likes to enjoy what the shores of England have to offer and especially loves sunbathing, even if he has to settle for the roof of his apartment building. He also loves playing mini-golf. He is extremely allergic to certain types of flowers, especially roses, lilies, tulips, and daisies. He owns a small white dog named Dionis and takes his coffee extra-dark with a lot of cream. No one has been quite able to get it right since Aggie Flint went missing.
Character History
Fletcher grew up in Penzance, Cornwall with his parents, Laurel and Danilo Bowman and his siblings Archer, Arbalest, Ballista and Bracer. He is an alumnus of the Gryffindor House, having graduated in 1975. During that time he was notorious for being a troublemaker, especially with Anna and Lorna McFadden being the victims. He was rarely without a girl on his arm and was good friends with Sturgis Podmore and Ioan Barbary, the former of which he went on to join the Auror Corps with.
At the end of his seventh year, after the NEWT exams, Fletcher burned all of his schoolbooks in the Gryffindor fireplace.
He is also engaged to Anna, who he has been dating (on and off, there have been 'breaks' due to Fletcher's flightiness) for four years. They were due to be married on 2 January 1980, but that was broken up by his brothers Archer, Bracer, and best friend, Sturgis Podmore.
After a period of less than a month of 'taking it slow', Fletcher and Anna were married (in Scotland, thanks to a magical contract restricting him from marrying her in England) on February 1, 1980. The only witnesses to their elopement were their mothers.
For Player Knowledge (FPK)
One: What characters should know about your character. What they infer from that is up to them.
It is general knowledge that Fletcher Bowman was a Gryffindor, class of 1975, and is now an Auror who does more in-office work than out-of. He is fairly tall by most standards (6'4") and very good-looking. Anyone who has either met him or knows about him through rumor would know that he is very much a flirt and that his flirting comes with varying levels of innocence.
He was certainly known during school for being a troublemaker and for slight promiscuity which only increased as he got older, but pretty much ceased when he started dating Anna Bobbin (she was his first serious relationship). No one in his House would have been too surprised by this. Anyone in Gryffindor who was there after the 1975ers finished their NEWTs would have known that he definitely burned all but two of his books: He kept his Defense book and his Astronomy book. He was Chaser for the house Quidditch team and was pretty decent at playing.
Coworkers would know that he is a good Auror and while he has trouble dealing with being twenty-three years old, he does take his job seriously when it comes down to it. They would also know about all of his fights with Anna in the Atrium and that since the wedding incident, he's been spending a lot of time in the office. Sturgis certainly knows all of that and then some; being the one subjected to most of his immaturity. They have been best friends since school and Fletcher (eventually) tells him most everything that's going on in his life. He would also know that he has a small white dog named Dionis who likes to sleep at his feet at night. Fletcher complains about her only because he's kicked her once or twice in the middle of the night and feels bad. He shares a mutual dislike for most of the Slytherins in their year; Fletcher considers them pretentious and snooty if not particularly Slytherin-like, as compared to the other ones he's known. He especially dislikes Francis Bones.
His family would know about his mother's nickname for him (Duckie) but that she and only she is allowed to call him that. They would also be best to know that he was a very sweet and mild-mannered child before Bracer was born and ever since then, has spent his days acting out. He can also be intentionally mean because of this. (He tried to 'get rid of' Bracer several times when he was a baby, enough that his parents had to put wards around the crib.) Fletcher was the only child in his family not to go to primary school. He was tutored by his mother in reading and writing and maths and for that reason he has terrible handwriting but reads exceptionally well.
Anna would know everything about him, from his favorite color to what he likes for breakfast to what he washes first in the shower. She'd know that he's severely allergic to most flowers (except asters and daisies), that when he sleeps he very rarely tosses unless he's ill, and that he doesn't usually drink the milk at the bottom of his cereal bowl. Dionis usually gets that.
Two: What characters should not know about your character. This should be adhered to firmly.
Fletcher's promiscuity during the four years that he has been with Anna gets talked up quite a bit, not only by the rumor mill, but also by Fletcher himself. The truth of the matter is, when they were apart, he only slept with three different women. And it was certainly while he was sure they had been separated. The only time he's cheated on her, if it counts, was after he was Disapparated away by Mary and went home with Lorna.
He has found the loophole in his antimarriage contract.
He can be very sensitive about his height, but only because most of his close friends/family are nowhere near him as far as that goes. As much as he uses it to tease Arbalest, he'd much rather be closer to Sturgis' height.
He is very afraid of dying, but would if he had to save someone else. Unless it was Francis Bones.
